During this time 200 people were accused, and 20 were executed. With the immigration of Puritans to America in 1630, the mass hysteria was brought to “The New World.” The Salem Witch Trials were a series of witchcraft cases that began in 1692 and ended in 1693(Salem Witch Trials History Channel). People were punished for being “witches” by being burned, stoned, beaten and drowned to death. ![]() These witch hunts were based on only accusations there was never a witch hunt based on facts. This resulted in various witch hunts all over Europe. During the 17th century, mass hysteria over the fear witches plagued Europe.
